　　Ladies and gentlemen,

　　I have had a lot of teachers in my school who have given me much help in my study. For their help I will never forget them. But today I am going to talk about a special teacher of mine.

　　This teacher is not a human being and its name is“Computer”. It has been teaching me a lot of knowledge and I appreciate it very much.

　　With the development of modern science and technology, computers are widely used in every teritories [every field] including education. How can a computer be my teacher? How does a computer teach me? Multimedia(多媒體)helps a lot in this aspect in recent years, and computer-based training (CBT) has become a popular educational medium (手段).

　　Even before the multimedia come [came] up, many different learning systems appeared, using the components and techniques we now associate with the term “multimedia”.

　　Multimedia components, such as graphics (動(dòng)畫) , animations , sound and video, make the learning process easier through visualization. Animations can present many complex subjects dynamically, but human teachers can not do this on blackboards. Multimedia makes our study more lively and interesting.

　　For example, a CD-ROM disk named “Encarta Encyclopedia” contains 650 MB information including images, graphics, music clips, video clips, animations , texts, hotwords, and database search functions. Fields involved includes physical sciences, performance arts, social sciences, politics, military, education and so on. When pressing a button, I can hear American President Clintons speech clip.

　　I may enjoy playing all kinds of musical instruments in the world. I can also see the animation of many physical phenomena. This makes physical concept to be understood deeply [ concepts understood better]. The audio features of multimedia can greatly help me learning [learn] foreign languages. With its speech output capabilities, Im no longer dependent on an instructor for proper pronunciation.

　　How can I interact with a computer? There are many ways, including keyboard, mouse pointer, and touch screen. I often use a keyboard.

　　When I press right keys, I can see and hear whatever I want. Information world is at my fingertip. I wish that true speech input-output system would be invented one day.

　　As teachers, computers have a lot of virtues：They are positive, they have good memories and never lose any information stored in them.

　　They have much knowledge in every field. They can let out all kinds of sounds, and can also improve the efficiency of our study. For example, if I want to, I can skip some chapters so that I can study at my own pace.

　　Although computers will never take the place of human teachers, they are welcomed by more and more learners. Computers will continue to evolve(發(fā)展)with the aid of modern technologies.

　　Computers are so powerful, helpful and important that everybody needs it, especially in the future! I love my computer teacher!

　　But there is also bad of the young teenagers are addicted to computer games，and some even play games all use of lacking in sleep，those students can not focus on in the class a result，they may fail in the they realize it is wrong to spend too much time playing games，it’s already too late.

　　I have remembered such a piece of news excellent student flunked（考試不及格）because he could not concentrate on his study for being too indulged in computer spent nearly all the money on games，which was earned by his father＇s selling his father knelt down to beg him to return to school，he was too numb to show any regret.

　　The most serious harm of computer games come from their contents，which affects teenagers＇mental games involve violence，such as fighting and they enjoy the pleasure of success，a violent turn of mind is developed and rooted in them，which may induce future violent behaviour in their life.

　　So when computers＇entertaining function is highly spoken of，such a problem does deserve our serious concern.

　　In addition，long time＇s working before computer also does harm to radiation from the computer can arose many uncomfortable feelings.，like a headache，poor eyesight.

　　At last，people who are fond of making friends on line should also be convicts use Internet as a way to cheat.

　　Although it has many disadvantages，Internet has become an indispensable part of people＇s life in recent my point of view，it’s wrong to blame Internet itself，it’s all depend on the way we use it.

　　If we use it in a right way，it can be one of the best friends in our life.

　　Hi everyone!

　　My name is Dongqi Yang from china, I am horror to be here today and I am very happy to receive this award. As you can imagine, as international students in Australia, the biggest challenge is English, I remembered that when I come here first time, there is a party in the house of my home stay. During the time, they played jokes and they laughed all the time, do you know how embarrassed that is, everyone laughed except you. So I pretend to understand the joke in another party, I saw everyone laugh and I laugh too in 5 seconds later. My home stay was surprised about that and asked me “do you understand?”，and I answered “no”，“So why do you laugh?” ”because I do not want to be embarrassed”!

　　But as I receive this award today, I want to thank to them, because they encourage me to be involved with the committee rather than staying in at home, play computer and speak Chinese. When I came to Wantirna College first time, I met liz collar who is international student coordinator. She is very kind to me, and she encourage me join SRC, I went to SRC meetings regularly all the time, but I didn’t even know what SRC was! That is the reason why I told her, I don’t want to go to SRC anymore. But she said “why not? You should go and you have to go!”I asked” why?” she said:” because I said so!”

　　But as ii receive this award today, I want to thank her. She helps me a lot. Truth be told, I am not the best student in Wantirna College, but I appreciate this award and I will try my best in future. I think I got 10 seconds left, I want to thank to Les and Vera who is my lovely home stay, thanks to Liz collar who is international student coordinator, I strongly want to thank to my mother, because she support me and gave me the opportunity to come to Australia. And thanks to Wantinran College, thanks to Australia and finally, thanks to everyone to be here tonight. Have a great night.

　　As we all know,the earth is a planet almost covered by water,and it is water made every thing on the earth lively．Water is also one of the important part of our environment．Though,is there really so much water for us to clean,to produce many things,to play with？how much water are there on the earth then？

　　Most of the water is in the oceans or locked away as ice．The largest volumes of fresh water are stored underground as groundwater,imagine there is only one barrel of water in the world,then there is only a spoon of it on the land,and the water we can use is only a drop of it．Now I have to remind all of you here that the single drop of water is never as Clean as before,it has been polluted severely by our human beings．

　　There is a very beautiful river in Paris．It is the Seine,it runs across the City,people drink coffee,chat on the bank in the day,at night,they enjoy the beautiful scenery in the boat,songs from the river fly into the Sky made the river more attractive,the Seine is a famous symbol of France；on the west coast of pacific ocean there lies the modern City Shanghai,anot ther river which used to be a very important transportation route runs through the center of the city,people respected and regard it as＂mother＂．It is the＂suzhou river,but l believe that few of you would sit beside it,people will be scattered by the terrible smell of water when walk by．I have to say it is extremely dirty!And we all know that a lot of beautiful rivers in the world also are Sharing the same fate with suzhou river．Who is the devil？I can＇t help asking．

　　Many human activities and their by-products have the potential to pollute se have a look along the banks of the river,large and small industrial enterprises discharge dirty

　　water,tons of garbage were thrown into the river,the water contained so much that it can＇t clean ared with the dramatic development in many sides of Shanghai,the suzhou river has become a black point of the appearance of city.

　　Fortunately,the government has control the situation now,we are happy to see some parts of the river has become clean again,and we even can find fish sometime.

　　The unique earth is the only planet full of lives,the water is just like the blood in the active body,protecting water is saving to waste a single drop of water,otherwise,the only drop of water we could keep in the future would be our tear!

　　My dear friends,mankind still faces a great difficulty in solving the problems of the environment and development,and there is a grand task to perform and along way to middle school students in China will always cooperate with the young people of the world to protect the environment.
