推薦信是留學(xué)申請(qǐng)過程中，最難由自己掌握的部分，也由于他是眾多申請(qǐng)材料中少數(shù)能從第三者的可觀角度評(píng)關(guān)申請(qǐng)者的文件，因此有重要的地位。專家介紹推薦信可以從三個(gè)方向著手：
1.就學(xué)校方面
首先，必須先了解申請(qǐng)專業(yè)的特點(diǎn)(推薦信內(nèi)容可以強(qiáng)調(diào)此特點(diǎn));整理各校對(duì)推薦信內(nèi)容的要求，即可得到關(guān)于評(píng)估的基本要求(例如，學(xué)術(shù)研究能力、創(chuàng)造力等)，以及特殊要求(例如，對(duì)研究領(lǐng)域的適應(yīng)度等)。試想：你認(rèn)為錄取委員會(huì)希望由推薦信獲取那些關(guān)于你的信息。
2.就個(gè)人方面

注意事項(xiàng)：
一般而言，推薦信需要三封，最好三封各有其強(qiáng)調(diào)的重點(diǎn)，以完全申請(qǐng)人的特點(diǎn)與才華，推薦信的基本組成除信頭、發(fā)信日期、收信人性命、地址、稱呼、簽名、推薦人性命、職務(wù)等外，信件內(nèi)容還應(yīng)包括以下各項(xiàng)：
1. 被推薦者全名：不可全文都只寫Mr. Huang和Miss He,需要明確寫出被推薦者的全明至少一次。
2. 認(rèn)識(shí)期間：何時(shí)認(rèn)識(shí)-或認(rèn)識(shí)多久-
3. 認(rèn)識(shí)程度：偶爾見面或者密切接觸，例如任課老師或者班主任等。
4. 與申請(qǐng)人之間的關(guān)系：老師或者部門主管等。
5. 學(xué)業(yè)成績(jī)：討論申請(qǐng)人擅長(zhǎng)與不擅長(zhǎng)的學(xué)習(xí)領(lǐng)域。
6. 個(gè)人成就：在學(xué)校、工作或家庭中的特殊表現(xiàn)。如曾經(jīng)獲得某種獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金、工作中表現(xiàn)優(yōu)秀等。
7. 特殊才能：語言、藝術(shù)、體育等方面的特殊能力。

Dear Sir/Madam:
I am writing this letter of recommendation for Mr.Caleb，my former student. I have known Mr. Caleb for more than 6 years since his freshman year at "University of Minnesota". At that time，he took the course-- "Mathematical Analysis，" which I taught mainly for junior students majoring in Mathematics.
To my surprise，I found he was among the few students in his class who could keep up with the pace of my lectures. Moreover，he often posed thought-provoking questions during the course. Thus it was natural that I liked discussing with this young man and became familiar with him. The more I knew him， the more I found he was talented at mathematics. At last he and his classmates finished the program successfully with his great efforts.
As to his personality，I would like to say Mr. Caleb is a warm-hearted， honest and upright student. He was always ready to help others. During my lectures，many students got confused at some points and I could always see Mr. Caleb help them explain during breaks. In the meanwhile，I must admit that Mr. Caleb was a bit impatient sometimes.
