  I write in my capacity as a tutor in the College of Finance, Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, to offer my recommendation for XXX. XXX attended my classes ‘Financial Mathematics’ and ‘Business Statistics’ in 2008 and 2009 respectively. The textbooks for these two courses were in English.

  XXX was a very active student. In the Financial Mathematics class, she always participated keenly in session interaction. Students taking this course need plenty of practice to get familiar with the advanced concepts that I teach, and so I often ask them to demonstrate solutions on the blackboard to set out their progress. XXX not only excelled at this, but also was adept at guiding other less capable students to complete these demonstrations.

  After class, she would discuss a range of advanced financial mathematics questions with me -for example, how to make better use of capital when the currency growth is only gradual. She expressed a lively range of opinions and communicated with me fluently to express her viewpoint.

  XXX was equally active in my Business Statistics class. She would preview every lesson and would often share her understanding about the various topics with other students. After class, XXX carried out market research in the self-study center of the school, focusing on investigation into the various lifestyle choices of students. This required a lot of statistics knowledge, and from time to time XXX would come to me to seek guidance in the more complex areas of statistics that she did not fully understand.

  Based on her superior learning attitude, XXX was one of the best students in both these classes. When her classmates asked her about academic matters, she would answer clearly and precisely. Once, for example, several of her fellow students were struggling with various statistics concepts just two weeks before a key examination. XXX helped

  them to review their lessons, and pointed out the exercises she thought would help them best for the examination. She also asked me for suggestions to guide her advice. In the end, they all got good marks due to her help.To sum up, XXX was a conscientious and active student at all times.   To dear professors,

  One of my best students called xxxxxx turns to me for help on recommending these days. I am very happy to do so. I am a senior professor in Institute of Educational Administration & Training in Southwest University. Based on what I have known about Mr. Wang, I can tell something to you about him.

  I have known about xxx for nearly 6 years in the first half year of 2005. Though I have taught thousands of students, I can still remember him. I have taught him two courses, one was System Engineering Theory in 2005, and the other was Educational System Engineering in 2009. I still remembered that he got the highest scores in his class, the first is 99 and the last is 100. How outstanding the student is! He is smart and impressive!

  For a PhD candidate, from my point, I think he is qualified and preeminent. He is famous among our students for his research ability and kind heart. I heard that he published more 20 papers. At first, I was so surprising on such a graduate student. When I read some of articles in journals, I found that his papers are rational construction and logical argument. And some of the journals are hard to be selected. I do not know the sociological field clearly, but I know the educational field in China, for example, Open Education Research, Continue Education Research, and Adult Education, all of them are core journals and hard to publish a paper as a first author is a graduate student, some times for our professors. As a graduate student, his abilities on studying and research are excellent. And also, his total score is No.1 during his first two years of graduate studying. He got the first-prize scholarship of graduate student in our university. This is the encouragement from our university to conform his effort and diligence.

  As for me, I appreciate those of his abilities very much. Those are his thinking ability, potential creative power and leadership skills. First, I want to tell you about his thinking ability. From his talking and homework, I found that he is a boy who is particular in analyzing the problem profoundly from the causes to results. Once we discussed about the problems of our state-owned enterprises and how to use the principles of System Engineering Science to solve these problems. After a week, he gave me a paper called Analyzing on Improving the Core Competence of State-owned Enterprises by System Engineering Principles in China. I read his paper and found that his idea was creative and logical. He pointed out the causes, analyzed the problems and gave some useful advices from the perspective of a manager. Not only that, he proposed that how to establish a high efficiency administrative and productive network by system engineer principles in the enterprisers. I could not express how I agreed with his view and to this paper, so I gave him 100 the full point.

  Secondly, from his papers on the social security, I can find that his potential creative power on research. I take one of his eminent papers called The New Model of Chinese Rural Old-aged Support from the Perspective of Urbanization as an example. In this paper, he established a material and spiritual support network for the rural old

  people in China. This network is attractive, if it can be really carried out in our nation, I think, it can help the old people who are like me to really enjoy our rest time. Though this is an ideal model, it can give the developmental direction to the rural social welfare. Certainly, many medias have cited and published this paper is not surprising for it is real a good paper as few graduate student can write.

  Finally, his leadership skill is charming. Due to his social practice and part-time jobs as the students’ leader in our school, he earned how to use reasonable leadership skills to work with his partners and lead his subordinates to finish the works well. He is kind to his friends and workmates. I also know that he works as a college teacher on campus, I heard some high appraise about his courses from his colleagues who are my students. I congratulate him from bottom of my heart.

  i have known mr. xxx ever since he was an ma student, and since the autumn of 2008 he has been under my supervision as a phd candidate. in these years, he has attended my courses and seminars in language testing, esl reading theory and practice, psycholinguistics, etc. he has impressed me as an intelligent, hardworking, and highly motivated student with great potential for academic achievement and intellectual independence. i have noticed, much to my pleasure, that he has a strong desire to probe into academically challenging topics and has the kind of determination and perseverance necessary for conducting academic research.
