Task：On the vehicle-free day, private cars, trucks and motorcycles are banned in the city centre while the public transport is permitted such as bicycles, buses and taxis. Do the benefits of the vehicle-free day outweigh the disadvantages?
解析：
汽車(chē)給人們帶來(lái)的負(fù)面影響可以說(shuō)是多方面的，包括環(huán)境污染、能源耗費(fèi)、交通堵塞等，但我們的生活又離不開(kāi)汽車(chē)了。怎么辦呢?于是有人提議一年中拿出一天來(lái)作為“無(wú)車(chē)日”。在這一天(去年是9月22日)，除了公共交通外，大家都不開(kāi)自己的車(chē)，都乘公交車(chē)或騎自行車(chē)出行。這個(gè)是很有意思的做法。記得以前為了讓大家知道香煙的害處，設(shè)置過(guò)“戒煙日”，其效果還相當(dāng)好，現(xiàn)在抽煙的人已經(jīng)大為減少了;還記得為了讓大家多交流，而不是坐在自家屋里沙發(fā)上看電視，有人提議“無(wú)電視日”，這個(gè)效果似乎就非常一般了;還有人感到網(wǎng)絡(luò)是阻礙大家交流的罪魁禍?zhǔn)�，于是提議“無(wú)網(wǎng)絡(luò)日”，估計(jì)這個(gè)要是強(qiáng)制推行的話，很多人都會(huì)瘋掉。
那么，“無(wú)車(chē)日”是否可行呢?這個(gè)需要試驗(yàn)才會(huì)得知。但本題并不問(wèn)“無(wú)車(chē)日”是否可行，而是問(wèn)“無(wú)車(chē)日”這個(gè)做法的.好處和壞處，這個(gè)談起來(lái)就容易了。無(wú)車(chē)日的好處很多，包括讓大家愉快地度過(guò)安靜的一天，這是物質(zhì)層面;讓大家意識(shí)到汽車(chē)的危害(環(huán)境、能源、交通安全)，這是心理和精神層面;大家意識(shí)到這些危害后，未來(lái)盡量少開(kāi)車(chē)出行，社會(huì)就會(huì)因此安全得多、安靜得多，這是社會(huì)的層面。當(dāng)然，無(wú)車(chē)日也有問(wèn)題。比如，當(dāng)大家都不開(kāi)車(chē)，勢(shì)必引起公共交通的壓力激增，弄不好還會(huì)影響大家的正常工作和生活。因此，我的觀點(diǎn)就是：支持無(wú)車(chē)日，但是要提前告知公眾，讓公眾做好這一天的出行計(jì)劃，以免造成共交堵塞，影響公眾的生活。

As you have got accustomed to the annoying noise produced by the cars running along the street, can you imagine a quiet day without cars? Actually this has already been practiced throughout the world. Last year, September 22 was set as ideas the “vehicle-free day”, when people were encouraged to walk, ride the bicycle, or take public transportation such as the bus, the taxi and the metro rather than drive their own cars.
Personally, I believe this “vehicle-free day” can bring about a host of positive effects. At the most basic level, people can enjoy a quiet day. Without the cars hustling and roaring, the city will become a much more peaceful and cleaner place to live in, but to most city dwellers, this seems to be a dream that will never come true. What is more, on this special day, the awareness will dawn on people that they should no longer take for granted their life with cars. They will be made to understand that the benefits of driving cars do not come without prices. Cars, for example, emit greenhouse gas, produce huge noises, pollute the air and cause traffic congestion and even dangers that may threaten our lives. Once they realize these hazards, they may minimize the use of their cars and then the condition of the city will be improved.
Undoubtedly, the “vehicle-free day” may also cause problems. The most immediate one is that, when people do not drive their cars, the public transportation system may subject to tremendous pressure. If not planned carefully enough, this well-intended day may turn out a disaster to the city commuters. Fortunately, there do exist solutions to this problem. For instance, we can encourage people to ride bicycles or work at home whenever possible on this day.
