The origin of world population day
In July 11, 1987, a baby was born in the former Yugoslavia, symbolically identified by the United Nations as "fiftieth billion people on earth" and declared the earth's population to exceed the 5 billion mark. The United Nations Population Activity Foundation (UNFPA) initiative called the day "5 billion people's day in the world."". In 1990, the United Nations decided to set the year July 11th as world population day to attract attention to population issues.
According to the United Nations Development Programme for the thirty-sixth session of the board, to attract the world government and people attach importance to the issue of population, the United Nations Population Fund for governments and non-governmental organizations during the "world population day". Since then, all countries in the world should carry out propaganda activities.

1987年7月11日，前南斯拉夫的一個(gè)嬰兒降生，被聯(lián)合國(guó)象征性地認(rèn)定為是地球上第50億個(gè)人，并宣布地球人口突破50億大關(guān)。聯(lián)合國(guó)人口活動(dòng)基金會(huì)(UNFPA)倡議將這一天定為"世界50億人口日"。1990年，聯(lián)合國(guó)決定將每年的七月十一日定為"世界人口日"，以喚起人們對(duì)人口問(wèn)題的關(guān)注。
根據(jù)聯(lián)合國(guó)開(kāi)發(fā)計(jì)劃署理事會(huì)第36屆會(huì)議建議，為引起世界各國(guó)政府和人民對(duì)人口問(wèn)題的重視，聯(lián)合國(guó)人口基金要求各國(guó)政府、民間團(tuán)體在此期間開(kāi)展"世界人口日"活動(dòng)。此后，世界各國(guó)都要開(kāi)展宣傳活動(dòng)。
1995年2月15日零點(diǎn),北京婦產(chǎn)醫(yī)院一個(gè)重3700克的嬰兒出生,宣告中國(guó)第12億個(gè)公民的到來(lái)。距1989年4月11日"11億人口日"不足2000天,龐大的人口列車(chē)又增加了1億名新乘客。
1999年10月12日世界人口達(dá)60億聯(lián)合國(guó)確定為世界"60億人口日"。

The significance of world population day
At present, the difference between the population growth rate of developing countries and developed countries is still very large. 世界人口日的意義
目前發(fā)展中國(guó)家和發(fā)達(dá)國(guó)家之間人口增長(zhǎng)速度的差別依然很大，發(fā)展中國(guó)家人口正在以 1.7% 的年人口增長(zhǎng)率增長(zhǎng)，而發(fā)達(dá)國(guó)家的年人口增長(zhǎng)率僅為0.4%。
全世界有4/5 的人口居住在欠發(fā)達(dá)地區(qū)，而全世界 94%的.人口增長(zhǎng)也正在發(fā)生在那里�？刂迫丝谠鲩L(zhǎng)，掌握計(jì)劃生育的知識(shí)和方法是一個(gè)至關(guān)重要的因素，在7月11日世界人口日，聯(lián)合國(guó)環(huán)境規(guī)劃署如是提醒世界。
從全球范圍內(nèi)來(lái)說(shuō)，人口出生率和死亡率都在下降。目前世界人口為 58 億，同時(shí)正在以 1.48% 的年增長(zhǎng)率遞增，即目前全球人口在以每 8000萬(wàn)的速度增長(zhǎng)。
“世界人口日是一個(gè)反映地球居民、他們的生存條件以及環(huán)境之間的關(guān)系的好機(jī)會(huì)。人口問(wèn)題絕不只是一個(gè)關(guān)于抽象的人口數(shù)字的簡(jiǎn)單話題，它關(guān)系到現(xiàn)在和將來(lái)地球居民的生存條件以及健康問(wèn)題”，聯(lián)合國(guó)環(huán)境規(guī)劃署執(zhí)行主任克勞斯·托普弗宣稱。
無(wú)論在世界各地，人口都是引起周?chē)h(huán)境以及其自身生存條件變化的主要因素。維持人口的穩(wěn)定增長(zhǎng)在地區(qū)、國(guó)家以及世界范圍內(nèi)都越來(lái)越被看作是環(huán)境可持續(xù)發(fā)展的重要內(nèi)容，持續(xù)的自然資源生產(chǎn)力和環(huán)境衛(wèi)生服務(wù)設(shè)施也被看作是取得社會(huì)人口與發(fā)展目標(biāo)的主要因素。面鑒別國(guó)政府可以通過(guò)制定政策、提供信息等方式來(lái)幫助本國(guó)人民保護(hù)其生存環(huán)境，控制家庭人口規(guī)模。
目前在世界各地，人口、環(huán)境與發(fā)展之間能否普遍出現(xiàn)良性循環(huán)的格局的可能性還不明朗，這一切在很大程度上尚要取決于某一特定社區(qū)和國(guó)家的情況，及政策和政府所能提供的配套服務(wù)，以及從根本上提高婦女社會(huì)和經(jīng)濟(jì)地位、普及對(duì)女童的教育、改善醫(yī)療和衛(wèi)生條件、提高自然資源的利用率以及改善生育醫(yī)療設(shè)施。
