　　春聯(lián)，又叫“春貼”、“門對”，它以對仗工整、簡潔精巧的文字描繪美好形象，抒發(fā)美好愿望，是漢族特有的文學(xué)形式。對聯(lián)的上下聯(lián)字?jǐn)?shù)不限，但必須相等。

　　英語故事：貼春聯(lián)的來歷

　　Spring Couplets, a Chinese New Year decoration, are an integral part of China''s New Year. Their beginnings go back as far as the origins of New Year''s festivities.

　　春聯(lián)，是中國新年的'裝飾，沒有春聯(lián)，春節(jié)就不完整。春聯(lián)的來歷就要說到新年的來歷

　　According to legends in the China''s ancient past there was a monster known as Nian who often came down from the mountains to eat livestock and locals. It was discovered that he was afraid of the color red and so red paper was placed around doors and windows of houses and poems for good luck were added to them. The houses with the red paper were avoided by the monster, so its inhabitants were spared. The tradition has continued until today.

　　根據(jù)中國古代歷史傳說中記載，有一個(gè)叫“年的”怪物經(jīng)常從山上到村子里吃牲畜。后來人們發(fā)現(xiàn)這個(gè)怪物怕洪澤，所以就在門上，窗戶上貼紅紙，紅紙上面還寫一些增加轉(zhuǎn)運(yùn)的詩。這樣，怪獸害怕貼滿紅紙的屋子，所以這個(gè)風(fēng)俗被流傳了下來，一直直到今天。

　　Couplets are traditionally painted with black ink on two pieces of red paper which is then hung on either side of a door.

　　對聯(lián)傳統(tǒng)的來講是用黑墨在兩張紅紙上寫字，然后貼在門的兩側(cè)。

　　One half is hung on either side. There is an extra piece of paper painted with words of prosperity hung above the door frame. Traditionally the couplets are poems consisting of two lines of either four or five characters. They are painted from top to bottom, right to left.

　　一邊貼張。另外還有一個(gè)橫批寫著意味繁榮之意之字貼在門框的上方。傳統(tǒng)的對聯(lián)，上聯(lián)合下聯(lián)是4個(gè)或5個(gè)字，是一對詩。寫對聯(lián)一般是從上到下，從右到左。

　　Different couplets have different themes. For farmers the couplets are meant to bring bounty to them, whereas businessmen''s couplets are meant to bring money. Traditionally scholars would paint couplets and give them to their friends, relatives, and the public. Many people choose to their own couplets. Many times Door God or the Character "Fu"is added to doors along with the couplets.

　　不同的對聯(lián)有不同的主題。比如，給農(nóng)民的對聯(lián)是帶來好收成，商人掙跟多錢。傳統(tǒng)學(xué)者會(huì)自己寫對聯(lián)贈(zèng)予朋友或親人。許多人會(huì)自己設(shè)計(jì)屬于自己的對聯(lián)。門神和福字一般都是和對聯(lián)配套的貼在門上的。
