In this age of new media, where nearly everyone engages in some form of social media, how do you draw a line between your online identity and your professional persona(形象)?

While most of your micro blogs(微博)updates may be harmless, voicing an opinion on a micro blog related to your employer can lead you into hot water. In some cases,it can even get you fired.

Last year, a famous Australian journalist,Catherine Deveny, was sacked by her newspaper. The Age,after she made a number of posts on her microblogging site.According to her editor,“The views she has expressed recently on Twitter are not in keeping with the standards we set at The Age.”

This incident set_off a heated debate over the rights and responsibilities of using social media as a form of personal expression.

A few months earlier,an Australian politician was expelled from his party after he made racist remarks about American President Barack Obama.Similarly,in the UK,politician Stuart MacLennan was also fired by Britain's governing Labor Party after making offensive comments about the opposition on his Twitter account.According to a report by Digital Media,8 percent of US companies admit to firing workers because of Facebook activities, while 48 percent of employers are screening(篩選)applicants using social media sites.

What this means is that today, social media users must be highly cautious about their online activities and the comments they make online. As the divide between public and private becomes increasing difficult to distinguish, people must think twice before posting a controversial⑤ or critical remark.

This is particularly the case when handling an employer's official website or social media account. In Hungary,an employee of telecommunications giant,Vodafone, was fired after tweeting(發(fā)微博),on the company's official Twitter page,a joke made by a competitor.

  voice v.

A number of parents have voiced concern about their

  children's safety.

 、趕et off 引起,發(fā)動(dòng)

What this means is that today, social media users must be highly cautious about their online activities and the comments they make online.

What this means是what引導(dǎo)的主語從句;that引導(dǎo)表語從句;they make online是一個(gè)省略引導(dǎo)詞的定語從句。

The passage mainly tells us that you_must_be_cautious_about_your_online_activities_and_the_comments_you_make_online.

  A.________ B.________

  C.fired D.________

A.hired B.promoted D.invited

(2013·廣東卷,D)While Jennifer was at home taking an online exam for her business law class, a monitor(監(jiān)控器)a few hundred miles away was watching her every move.

Using a web camera equipped in Jennifer?s Los Angeles apartment, the monitor in Phoenix tracked how frequently her eyes moved from the computer screen and listened for the secret sounds of a possible helper in the room. Her Internet access was locked—remotely—to prevent Internet searches, and her typing style was analyzed to make sure she was who she said she was: Did she enter her student number at the same speed as she had in the past? Or was she slowing down?

In the battle against cheating, this is the cutting__edge and a key to encourage honesty in the booming field of online education. The technology gives trust to the entire system, to the institution and to online education in general. Only with solid measures against cheating, experts say, can Internet universities show that their exams and diplomas are valid—that students haven?t just searched the Internet to get the right answers.

  ……

42.The underlined expression cutting edge in Paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to ________.

  A.advanced technique

  B.sharpening tool

  C.effective rule

  D.dividing line

根據(jù)下一句中的“The technology gives trust to the entire system”并結(jié)合選項(xiàng)可以判斷出,“cutting edge”應(yīng)該與A項(xiàng)意思最接近。]

(2013·江西卷,C)Many people think that listening is a passive business. It is just the opposite.Listening well is an active exercise of our attention and hard work.It is because they do not realize this,or because they are not willing to do the work, that most people do not listen well.

Listening well also requires total concentration upon someone else.An essential part of listening well is the rule known as“bracketing”.Bracketing includes the temporary giving up or setting aside of your own prejudices and desires,to experience as far as possible someone else's world from the inside,stepping_into_his_or_her_shoes. Moreover, since listening well involves bracketing,it also involves a temporary of the other person.Sensing this acceptance, the speaker will seem quite willing to open up the inner part of his or her mind to the listener.True communication is under way.The energy required for listening well is so great that it can be accomplished only by the will to extend oneself for mutual growth.

The phrase“stepping into his or her shoes”in Paragraph 2 probably means________.

  A.preparing a topic list first

  B.focusing on one's own mind

C.directing the talk to the desired results

  D.experiencing the speaker's inside world

從上文中的“to experience as far as possible someone else's world from the inside” 可知,畫線部分指的是要理解說話者的內(nèi)心世界。
