Ted : Ow!

Pat: What’s the matter, Ted?

Ted: I slipped and fell downstairs.

Pat: Have you hurt yourself?
露西：你摔傷了沒有?
Ted: Yes, I have. I think that I’ve hurt my back.

Pat: Try and stand up. Can you stand up?Here. Let me help you.

Ted: I’m sorry, Pat. I’m afraid that I can’t get up.

Pat: I think that the doctor had better see you. I’ll telephone Dr Carter.

Notes on the text課文注釋
1 fell downstairs，從樓梯上摔下來。
downstairs是副詞，修飾fell，作狀語。
2 Try and stand up.試著站起來。在英語中，常用and把兩個(gè)動(dòng)詞連接在一起，如第13課的come upstairs and see it.這種句子往往用來鼓勵(lì)某種動(dòng)作。
3 Here在這里是感嘆詞，意思是“來”或“喂”，引起別人注意。
4 Let me help you.讓我來幫你。其中l(wèi)et有“允許”的意思。注意在let后面要加不帶to的動(dòng)詞不定式。
5 The doctor says that he will come at once.
在英文中如果要把某人所說的話告訴另一個(gè)人，要用間接引語。間接引語不用引號(hào)。往往在引語前加that等引導(dǎo)詞。

1.get up,站起來。
這一短語還可表示“起床”。
2.be afraid that,想，恐怕;be sure that, 想，認(rèn)為。
這兩個(gè)結(jié)構(gòu)后面通常接從句，在口語中有時(shí)that可省略。
語法 Grammar in use
1.賓語從句(1)
賓語從句在句中作賓語，一般用that引導(dǎo)，但在口語中經(jīng)常省略掉 that.
可用在 say, think, believe, hope, know, understand, suppose 等動(dòng)詞之后：
She says that she is cold.
她說她冷。
He thinks that he needs an X-ray.
他認(rèn)為他需要拍個(gè)X片。
I know that I can repair this car.
我知道我能修理這部車。
They believe that they will have more money.
他們認(rèn)為他們會(huì)有更多的錢。
可用在某些描寫感情的形容詞之后，如 afraid, sure, sorry,glad等：
I am sure that you need an X-ray.
我覺得你需要拍個(gè)X片。
I am sorry that you are ill.
聽到你生病了我很難過。
2.間接引述時(shí)的時(shí)態(tài)
如果間接引語中的引述動(dòng)詞是現(xiàn)在時(shí)，那么其后的時(shí)態(tài)通常與原來口頭陳述句的時(shí)態(tài)相同。轉(zhuǎn)述剛剛說完的'話時(shí)通常皆如此。

1.slip v.
(1)滑倒：
She slipped and fell down on the wet stones.
她腳下滑了一下，跌倒在潮濕的石頭上。
(2)滑落;脫落：
The soap slipped out of her hand.
肥皂從她的手中滑落。
(3)下滑;下跌：
Profits continue to slip this year.
利潤今年呈持續(xù)下跌趨勢(shì)。
(4)遺忘;忽略：
Our wedding anniversary completely slipped my mind.
我把我們的結(jié)婚紀(jì)念日忘得一干二凈。
2.hurt v.
(1)弄痛;使受傷：
Have you hurt yourself?
你傷著自己了嗎?
He fell off the bicycle and hurt his leg.
他從自行車上摔下來，摔傷了一條腿。
(2)危害;損害：
That case has hurt his reputation.
那個(gè)案件損害了他的聲譽(yù)。
I don't mean to hurt you.
我本無意傷害你的感情。
3.help v.
(1)幫助;援助;救助：
He devoted his life to helping the disabled.
他付出一生的心血去幫助那些殘疾人。
Would you help me to lift this box?
你能否幫我抬一下這只箱子?
(2)對(duì)……有幫助;對(duì)……有好處：
My knowledge of French helped me a lot while I was travelling in France.
我在法國旅行時(shí)，我的法文知識(shí)幫了我大忙。
Humour can help in a tense situation.
幽默能夠緩和緊張局面。
