As the competition for college education becomes severe, more and more parents begin to pay special attention to their children’s early education. As a result, kindergarten children are forced to learn foreign languages, and primary school children gasp under the burden of heavy homework and endless classes. In my opinion, playing for young children is more important because they can learn about society and nature through playing and they can build up a strong body.
例2:
Zoos have come a long way from their grim beginnings. Once full of tiny cement-block cages lined with steel bars, the larger zoos now boast simulated jungles, veldts, steppes, and rain forests, all in an attempt to replicate the animals’ natural habitat. The attempt is admirable, but it’s not enough. No amount of replication, no matter how convincing, is enough to make up for denying these creatures their freedom.
Young people tend to think that real life is as dramatic and fascinating as it is in the novels and movies, while more experienced adults disregard this opinion. Adults think this kind of na?ve daydream will only be destroyed by later experiences and every one should learn to get used to tedious everyday life. In fact, I believe that realism is necessary, but idealism is more important to increase the quality of our life.
Should we allow the government to set up a new university in our community? Many people strongly oppose this idea, while others insist that locating the university in our area would benefit the local people in many ways. Personally, I would side with the latter.
When I was a child, I was very introvert and showed not the least interest either in activities or in talking with friends or adults. All I wanted to do was reading, from fairy tales to science fiction, from history to geography. Although my parents often complained about my character, I enjoyed reading so much and I still do today, for I believe reading is the best way to learn.
例2:
When I was younger, I hated being the oldest child and only girl in my family. I can still remember telling my mom how I wished I was the youngest and had a sister instead. But, as I grow older, I realized that being the “Big Sister” wasn’t so bad after all. Being the oldest and only girl has many advantages: I get special treatment from my family members, I have become a mature person, and I am better prepared for my own family in the future.
例3:
Yesterday another schoolboy of my neighborhood got seriously wounded on his way to school. He ran into a taxi while he cycled across one of the 22 busy streets that he bad to cover every morning before he could finally arrive at his school. Obviously, building a high school near where we live would be most welcome to the parents as well as to their children.
例4:
The president of my university is a well-known scientist in the field of biochemistry. The problem is that neither the teachers nor the students are satisfied with his performance as our president. It seems that one’s academic excellence does not help make him a successful university president: fund-raising and management skills are more important qualities for the leader of a university.
例5:
One of my friends is a manager of famous computer company and earns $10,000 a month, almost ten times that of my salary, Last week, he called to borrow some money from me because he couldn’t manage to pay his apartment rent of this month. At first, I couldn’t believe him, but then I got to know that he just spends every penny he earns every month. I proudly lent him the money and reminded him of the importance of saving money.
In almost every university, the president is either the most outstanding professor of the university itself or a well-known scholar in national or even international academic circles. Naturally, many people assume that the most important quality of a university president is his or her academic excellence. However, I believe that fund-raising and management skills are more crucial for the leader of a university.
Have you ever gone swimming in a hot stuffy summer day? Have you ever been to the seashore to see the splendid waves? Have you ever stood on the peak of a mountain with cloud around you? Have you ever walked in the quiet silver moonlight? If you have no experience like these, your life is an inadequate one. In my opinion, I like outdoor activities much more than indoor activities.
An ancient Greek philosopher said, “There is nothing permanent except change.” Companies change all the time, the market changes all the time, and employees change all the time. Therefore, it is either unrealistic or unnecessary for any business to maintain a permanent army of same employees until their retirement.
A psychiatrist has found that people who are angry and cynical are five times as likely to die under the age of 50 as people who are calm and trusting. This differs from what many researchers used to believe: that Type A people—people who work too hard and are always in a hurry—were likely to die early from heart disease. Personally, I agree that hostility, rather than stress, leads to premature death.
