　　BEC即劍橋商務(wù)英語證書考試，是劍橋大學(xué)考試委員會(UCLES)設(shè)立的。很多人誤認(rèn)為BEC考試針對是那些學(xué)與商務(wù)有關(guān)的專業(yè)人員的，其實(shí)不然。因?yàn)闊o論你學(xué)的專業(yè)是什么，都要在某個特定的'商務(wù)環(huán)境中運(yùn)用，BEC考查的正是這種普遍存在的商務(wù)環(huán)境中應(yīng)具備的通識與能力。劍橋大學(xué)考試委員會設(shè)立BEC考試的目的是在全球范圍內(nèi)建立一個測試商界雇員英語水平的統(tǒng)一標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，使BEC證書被跨國公司和非英語國家的大公司用作商務(wù)英語測試標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，以評估在真實(shí)商務(wù)環(huán)境下雇員的英語水平，使人力資源部門能準(zhǔn)確評估雇員商務(wù)英語的運(yùn)用技能。因此，與我國的四、六級考試相比較，BEC考試更側(cè)重對英語實(shí)際運(yùn)用能力的考查。換句話說，BEC中的考查內(nèi)容都是可以馬上拿到實(shí)際工作中去的，不會出現(xiàn)所謂高分低能現(xiàn)象。
