老人與海英文讀后感3
I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. It’s pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the he-ro-in-e,though I didn’t think she’s beautiful. But she’s smart. However, I didn’t pay much attention to the plot. I thought it’s so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I haven’t read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either. I owe it to my prejudice. In fact, I didn’t understand the story at that time. I didn’t know why it called Pride and Prejudice. Of course someone was pride, but I didn’t find where’ s the prejudice. I thought it’s normal, the way people treated each other in that. I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movie everthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it. I’m a prejudiced person so I can’t find where’s wrong.
I merely like to do the things I like. Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time.
老人與海英文讀后感4
In the book, the old man prepared his fishing properly and preciously than any other fishermen so that "Then when luck comes you are ready" as the old man thought to himself. In reality, some of us keep complaining that they are born in wrong time or good luck never knocks their doors. In fact, good luck sometimes just comes when they are not ready. Taking Newton for example, if he had not acquired a lot, millions of apples could never make him discovery the gravity. So if we just keep studying as much as we can, good luck will finally find us and a bright future is ahead of us. The old man never gives up hope. When all of people think he is doomed, he still strongly believes that he will get a big fish. And he does.
So never giving up hope is very important to us. This reminded me of the sentence in Churchill's speech "Never give up, never, never, never…". "But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated" has always been inspiring me when I counter with some setbacks in my life. Setbacks are inevitable in pursuit of our goals, but we should never be frustrated and should be "graceful under heavy pressure" like the old man. It is his relentless pursuit that contributes to the victory.
老人與海英文讀后感5
After a week's insistence, I finally finished reading "the old man and the sea" this foreign name. The book left a deep impression on me, I can't forget it. This novel mainly wrote one old man fishing in the sea alone. He caught a big fish, the fish head and upper body tied to the edge of the boat. But he met the shark, the old man pulled out all the stops and shark struggle, sharks eat fish can eat to all live to 800 pounds.
Look at the book, my heart can't be calm once in a long time, the common and respectable old man made me deeply understood: "perchance life should not be any difficulties, should do their best efforts and hardships do indomitable struggle of life.
Santiago ALGOL grandpa's stubborn spirit really makes me admire. Whenever I read about grandpa during a fierce battle with the sharks, I feel I do not know want nervous or worry about grandpa, grandpa, however, is always the spirit of optimism to face some great difficulties. See here, I couldn't help thinking of yourself, when I met with some difficulties, I always feel very frustrated, feel very tired, really want to escape from reality. Look at somebody else's Santiago ALGOL grandpa, undeterred by whether encounter any difficulty, but bravely to face!
So it should be human, not a death mask, to have confidence in myself. Even if we encounter difficulties, should not let it to beat, should bravely to destroy it.
I believe that with my efforts, I will become like Santiago ALGOL grandpa so brave, so brave to fight.

老人與海英文讀后感7
My thoughts on the old man and the sea A man is not made for defeat, a man can be destroyed but not defeated. This sentence has lingered in my mind since I finished the book The Old Man and the Sea In the face of fighting with this huge marlin, the old man did not release the fishing line in his hands for three days and nights, and the old man did not flinch when confronted with attack of sharks, but decided to pick up the wooden stick in the hands to defend their own harvest.
Such a tough guy image suddenly highlighted in front of me, which made me admire him and cheer for his b mind. Challenge is of course nowhere in the present life. We need to learn from the old man who with a brave heart, in the face of challenges clenched his fist, rather than yield, avoid, and give up. In the boundless sea, the old man was sitting alone in the little sailing boat, and seemed so small under the setting sun in the distance, extraordinarily slim.
But the old man hadn’t caught one fish since 84days ago. In t such situation, the old man was still optimistic, looking at the sun rise and set, watching the looming moon, and enjoying the company of fish and birds, and talking with wind and water. He just became one part of the sea. The sea, kind and beautiful, finally gave the old man a big marlin but the ocean was also cruel- lots of sharks came flooding to rob the fish, trying beating the old man and crushing his glory. The old man"s loneliness and happy were associated with the sea, through whom, the author enthusiastically praise the human’s bravery when facing hardships. So no matter how difficult the things are, we all can"t give up ourselves.

老人與海英文讀后感9
Recently I read the book "The Old Man and the Sea" written by Hemingway.
Hemingway is a famous American novelist who won the Nobel Prize in Literature for x years. He is hailed as the "mental monument of the American nation and the founder of the "news style" novel. His strokes have always been known as the "hard man of the literary world." Hemingways writing style is known for its simplicity. It has a profound effect. This book inspired me deeply. The content of this book is: There used to be an old fisherman named Santiago in Cuba. He hadnt caught fish for more than 80 days.
That day he decided to go fishing far away, so he rowed a boat to catch fish before dawn. Fortunately, he saw a very rare "monster"-a two-meter long marlin. The old fisherman immediately picked up the rope on the boat and caught the marlin, but the fish dragged the boat for two days and two nights, and finally the marlin died from fatigue.
The old fisherman was so happy that he jumped three feet high, and then used the power of nine cows and two tigers to drag the marlin to the bow. Just as the old fisherman was complacent, disaster struck him again: a group of fierce sharks was invading his "trophy". The old fisherman immediately picked up the harpoon to fight against the shark, but the marlin was still eaten by the shark. The old fisherman finally dragged home with only a bare fish skeleton. Although the old fisherman lost in the end, his spirit of perseverance and hard

The Old Man And The Sea This is a great book, mind you。 How I gave opinions to that is the spirits of Santiago greatly affected me。 But the author, Earnest Hemingway said if his writing is really good, then the characters can also be many other things。 Santiago is a common fisherman, and he hadn't had a fish for 84 days。 And this time when he left he fished a big salmon by himself。 He fought the fish for 3 days and nights and finally he kills it。 He called it his 'brother'。 But he then had to fight the sharks and finally he gone home with a fish spine, and some fish bones。 I could find his great spirits of never giving up。 Particularly if he just loose the grip of the fishing poleand let the fish go, he wouldn't have any trouble, but he can stay to the end。 Something I regret to tell you is that I didn't read this book very carefully, so I intend to tell you I want to read this book again and tell you what I've gained through the second—time reading。
老人與海英文讀后感11
On summer vacation of this year, I studied in novel " old man and sea " of Hemingway , famous writer of U.S.A. ,. I admire the old fisherman's will in the novel very much, he lets me understand that a person must have unremitting spirit, could succeed .
What the novel is described is an old fisherman almost the sixty years old, when go to sea and fish alone once, have angled to a big fish, but can not draw. After tough fisherman and fish have socialized for a few days, just find this is a big Malin's fish which exceeds several times of one's own fishing boat, though know perfectly well that it is very difficult to win , does not give up yet. Because big Malin fish fishlike smell of wound attract odd herds of shark vie for the food again later, but the old man is still unwilling to give up like this, stress the tight encirclement finally , take the large fish back to fishing port , let other fishmen admire it endlessly. The old fisherman thinks that as I read ": It is really too close from here to coast, perhaps there are bigger fish in the farther place ……" When, admire very much because this old fisherman in the persons, because play not for some fishing he already at this moment I, but he is not satisfied with the existing state of affairs , but advance towards greater goal.
Seeing us again, meet some little difficulties at ordinary times , all of us complain bitterly. We are the future of the motherland, should be as ambitious as this old man, go to pursue well , greater goal. Read as me " big Malin fish is it enclose light fishing boat move about , is it get mast to twine cable fast to begin, old man right hand hold steel fork high , jump out in a flash , affording to try one's best above water in it, a sound of wail has finished the life of the loud fish, it floats on the surface of water silently ……"When, the I one heart is too fall like pieces of stone not big. I admire that kind of fearing of the old man at all , unremitting spirit very much, though know rival's strength is very strong , but he has not shrunk back at all , meets the difficulty. Just because there is this kind of spirit, the old fisherman has obtained the victory of the trial of strength of this life and death. We should study the old fisherman's spirit too in life, do the thing and is not afraid of the difficulty , could achieve success . Read big blood offensive smell of fish smell one shark , fall over each other to visit to vie for the food, left hand of old man pull a muscle just, he can only use right hand, can weapon attacked to used for defend oneself with stick , mouth of swordfish that catch everything, and has driven away this herd of shark finally. But big meat of fish take into big half already, but old man criticize one's own left hand " when the work this when have a rest " humorously also, I am subdued by old man's optimistic spirit too. In life, some losses are unavoidable, we should treat the optimistic attitude , can't worry about petty gain or loss . Finally, the novel sees with a teenager that old fisherman has 18 feet of big long Malin's fish totally in the tolerance , the ones that have described this fish are enormous again, prove that old fisherman's difficulty overcome is big, than ordinary.
Old fisherman's spirit that makes great efforts to struggle fearless of danger and difficulty that the novel has been extolled, we should be like him too, can' t be satisfied with the current situation , should be positive upwards, it should be unremitting to do anything, it must not give up halfway to meeting difficulty should meet the difficulty. Only in this way, we could obtain greater success and victory .
老人與海英文讀后感12
Today, I read the article "The Old Man and the Sea".
This is an old man fishing alone at the seaside. He caught a big fish, but met a shark. He fought with the shark desperately, but the shark ate all the fish he could eat. As a result, less than half of the big fish was left, but there was still about 800 pounds.
Yeah! As long as you do your best, no matter whether you succeed or fail. In May, I signed up to participate in the Hope English Talent Competition. The teacher sent me the draft and I practiced every day. However, when the teacher checked, he found that my draft was the same as that of another person. At that time, there were only five days left. The teacher said to me, "If you were not reciting one, I would believe you."
Finally, I couldn't stand the teacher's indomitable attitude, and recited another article. I began to recite this article more crazily, and didn't play at night. On that day, I went to Luoyang to compete and recited the whole article, but I only got 87 points. It didn't matter. I thought I had paid twice as much effort as others. Next time, I would participate.
Everyone should not be overwhelmed by any difficulties, and try his best to fight against the hardships in life unswervingly. Only in this way can he succeed.
老人與海英文讀后感13
When a person admits this defect and tries to overcome it instead of succumbing to it, it doesn't matter whether he finally catches a complete fish or not, because the value of a person's life has been fully reflected in the process of chasing the marlin salmon.
The old man and the sea has successfully created a classic image of a tough man. The author of this article also won the Nobel Prize for literature. The protagonist of the novel is an old Cuban fisherman named Santiago. He went fishing alone. After 84 days, he still got nothing. In 85 days, he finally caught a big Marinha fish. However, the strength of the fish is too strong. After three days of competition on the vast sea, the old man finally subdued the big fish, because the big fish is huge, He couldn't drag the fish into the boat at all. He tied the big fish to the side of the fishing boat. On his way home, he encountered repeated shark attacks. The old man fought against the sharks, but in the end, he left only his head, tail and a spine.
The old man Hemingway created here is a tragic hero. Although he finally got only a fish skeleton, he is a spiritual winner. He said: "man is not born for failure.。. A man can be destroyed, but not defeated." Human nature is strong. Human beings have their own limits, but it is precisely because people like the old fisherman expand to the limits again and again and put greater challenges in front of mankind again and again. In this sense, heroes like Santiago, the old fisherman, whether they challenge the limits, fail or succeed, are worth learning from.
Hemingway expressed his thoughts on the relationship between man and nature through the struggle between the old man and the big marlin, sharks and the sea and a large number of inner confessions: the law of nature is irresistible to human power, our noble people's indomitable struggle against nature should also live in harmony with themselves.
老人與海英文讀后感14
When I was a middle school student, I’ve finished this book in Chinese. But when I read it in English,I really gain something new both in the way of expression and the spirit it shows to us.May be different ages to read the same book we will learn different things from it.At least, for my part, that is true. Firstly,I would like to review some information about this book.Such as the background, major characters and the topic of it. The Old Man and the Sea is a story by Ernest Hemingway, written in Cuba in 1951 and published in 1952. It was the last major work of fiction to be produced by Hemingway and published in his lifetime. One of his most famous works, it centers upon Santiago, an aging Cuban fisherman who struggles with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. The Old Man and the Sea served to reinvigorate Hemingways literary reputation and prompted a reexamination of his entire body of work. The novella was initially received with much popularity; it restored many readers confidence in Hemingways capability as an author. Its publisher, Scribners, on an early dust jacket, called the novella a "new classic," and many critics favorably compared it with such works as William Faulkners "The Bear" and Herman Melvilles Moby-Dick. This book gives me a deep impression especially the description about the man’s braveness and persistence. In this book, in order to suggest the profundity of the old man’s sacrifice and the glory that derives from it, Hemingway purposefully likens Santiago to Christ, who, according to Christian theology, gave his life for the greater glory of humankind. Crucifixion imagery is the most noticeable way in which Hemingway creates the symbolic parallel between Santiago and Christ. When Santiago’s palms are first cut by his fishing line, the reader cannot help but think of Christ suffering his stigmata. Later, when the sharks arrive, Hemingway portrays the old man as a crucified martyr, saying that he makes a noise similar to that of a man having nails driven through his hands. Furthermore, the image of the old man struggling up the hill with his mast across his shoulders recalls Christ’s march toward Calvary. Even the position in which Santiago collapses on his bed—face down with his arms out straight and the palms of his hands up—brings to mind the image of Christ suffering on the cross. Hemingway employs these images in the final pages of the novella in order to link Santiago to Christ, who exemplified transcendence by turning loss into gain, defeat into triumph, and even death into renewed life. The major characters in this book are also vivid and lively. Santiago?,the old man of the novella’s title, Santiago is a Cuban fisherman who has had an extended run of bad luck. Despite his expertise, he has been unable to catch a fish for eighty-four days. He is humble, yet exhibits a justified pride in his abilities. His knowledge of the sea and its creatures, and of his craft, is unparalleled and helps him preserve a sense of hope regardless of circumstance. The marlin?,Santiago hooks the marlin, which we learn at the end of the novella measures eighteen feet, on the first afternoon of his fishing expedition. Manolin?,a boy presumably in his adolescence, Manolin is Santiago’s apprentice and devoted attendant. The old man first took him out on a boat when he was merely five years old. Due to Santiago’s recent bad luck, Manolin’s parents have forced the boy to go out on a different fishing boat. Manolin, however, still cares deeply for the old man, to whom he continues to look as a mentor. Joe DiMaggio, although DiMaggio never appears in the novel, he plays a significant role nonetheless. Santiago worships him as a model of strength and commitment, and his thoughts turn toward DiMaggio whenever he needs to reassure himself of his own strength. Perico ?,Perico, the reader assumes, owns the bodega in Santiago’s village. He never appears in the novel, but he serves an important role in the fisherman’s life by providing him with newspapers that report the baseball scores. This act establishes him as a kind man who helps the aging Santiago. Martin, like Perico, Martin, a café owner in Santiago’s village, does not appear in the story. The reader learns of him through Manolin, who often goes to Martin for Santiago’s supper. As the old man says, Martin is a man of frequent kindness who deserves to be repaid. From the very first paragraph, Santiago is characterized as someone struggling against defeat. He has gone eighty-four days without catching a fish—he will soon pass his own record of eighty-seven days. Almost as a reminder of Santiago’s struggle, the sail of his skiff resembles “the flag of permanent defeat.” But the old man refuses defeat at every turn: he resolves to sail out beyond the other fishermen to where the biggest fish promise to be. He lands the marlin, tying his record of eighty-seven days after a brutal three-day fight, and he continues to ward off sharks from stealing his prey, even though he knows the battle is useless. Because Santiago is pitted against the creatures of the sea, some readers choose to view the tale as a chronicle of man’s battle against the natural world, but the novella is, more accurately, the story of man’s place within nature. Both Santiago and the marlin display qualities of pride, honor, and bravery, and both are subject to the same eternal law: they must kill or be killed. As Santiago reflects when he watches the weary warbler fly toward shore, where it will inevitably meet the hawk, the world is filled with predators, and no living thing can escape the inevitable struggle that will lead to its death. Santiago lives according to his own observation: “man is not made for defeat. a man can be destroyed but not defeated.” In Hemingway’s portrait of the world, death is inevitable, but the best men(and animals)will nonetheless refuse to give in to its power. Accordingly, man and fish will struggle to the death, just as hungry sharks will lay waste to an old man’s trophy catch.
The novel suggests that it is possible to transcend this natural law. In fact, the very inevitability of destruction creates the terms that allow a worthy man or beast to transcend it. It is precisely through the effort to battle the inevitable that a man can prove himself. Indeed, a man can prove this determination over and over through the worthiness of the opponents he chooses to face. Santiago finds the marlin worthy of a fight, just as he once found “the great negro of Cienfuegos” worthy. HSantiago, though destroyed at the end of the novella, is never defeated. Instead, he emerges as a hero. Santiago’s struggle does not enable him to change man’s place in the world. Rather, it enables him to meet his most dignified destiny. While it is certainly true that Santiago’s eighty-four-day run of bad luck is an affront to his pride as a masterful fisherman, and that his attempt to bear out his skills by sailing far into the gulf waters leads to disaster, Hemingway does not condemn his protagonist for being full of pride. On the contrary, Santiago stands as proof that pride motivates men to greatness. Because the old man acknowledges that he killed the mighty marlin largely out of pride, and because his capture of the marlin leads in turn to his heroic transcendence of defeat, pride becomes the source of Santiago’s greatest strength. Without a ferocious sense of pride, that battle would never have been fought, or more likely, it would have been abandoned before the end. Santiago’s pride also motivates his desire to transcend the destructive forces of nature. Throughout the novel, no matter how baleful his circumstances become, the old man exhibits an unflagging determination to catch the marlin and bring it to shore. When the first shark arrives, Santiago’s resolve is mentioned twice in the space of just a few paragraphs. Even if the old man had returned with the marlin intact, his moment of glory, like the marlin’s meat, would have been short-lived. The glory and honor Santiago accrues comes not from his battle itself but from his pride and determination to fight. Santiago dreams his pleasant dream of the lions at play on the beaches of Africa three times. The first time is the night before he departs on his three-day fishing expedition, the second occurs when he sleeps on the boat for a few hours in the middle of his struggle with the marlin, and the third takes place at the very end of the book. In fact, the sober promise of the triumph and regeneration with which the novella closes is supported by the final image of the lions. Because Santiago associates the lions with his youth, the dream suggests the circular nature of life. Additionally, because Santiago imagines the lions, fierce predators, playing, his dream suggests a harmony between the opposing forces—life and death, love and hate, destruction and regeneration—of nature. This book gives me courage of conquering all kinds of difficulties .And I have the belief that the most beautiful thing is the process that we make our best to achieve our dream, and never say give up .
老人與海英文讀后感15
This winter vacation I read a book called "The Old Man and the Sea". The story in the book is wonderful!
The most touching story in this book is that an old man in the book is always fishing alone on the sea, so he always keeps company with the fish. Once he caught a big fish, but on his way back, he met a group of sharks. The old man tried his best to fight with the shark, but he still couldn't beat the shark. The shark ate all the fish he could eat, but the old man dragged back only a big fish skeleton
After reading this story, I was deeply inspired. I think sometimes we are very similar to the old people in the story. As long as we have something to do, as mothers, we will definitely come forward.
This is maternal love. The greatness of maternal love lies in her selfless dedication and no return, just like an eagle catching a chicken, an eagle like a shark, a hen like an old man, and a chicken like a big fish. The eagle went to catch the chicks and hens and tried to protect their children against the eagle. Although the power of the hen is limited, it can't fight the eagle. But it also desperately protects its children.
Like the old man in the article, he protects the big fish from sharks. Although we failed to catch the big fish in the end, let's admire the old man's efforts and perseverance, which is worth learning from.
