It is not beneath your dignity to apologize to your subordinate.
向你的下屬道歉并不會(huì)有失尊嚴(yán)。
beneath your dignity 直譯過(guò)來(lái)就是：“在你的尊嚴(yán)下面”，這個(gè)短語(yǔ)的正確意思是：“有損你的尊嚴(yán)，有失尊嚴(yán)”。因此，當(dāng)美國(guó)人說(shuō)"It is not beneath your dignity to apologize to your subordinate."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"You won't lose face to apologize to your subordinate."、"You won't lose your dignity to make an apology to your staff."。
