Tips: The Top 8 Resume BuildingMistakes (And How to Avoid Them!)
8 common mistakes lead to many resumes beingignored by potential employees. They include:
1.The 260 Reality 260字定理
You have approximately 260 words to make an impression onyour potential employer. Don’t waste a single word! Get to the point, get to itfast, and DON’T get off of it for the next 259 words.
2.The C&P (Copy & Paste )Resume“萬金油”簡歷
Many job seekers want to contact as many employers in aslittle time as possible, and most forget to tailor their resumes for each jobthey are applying for. When assembling your resume, remember the age oldsaying: what you put in is what you get out. The better resumes get closerlooks.
Many resume builders, especially first – timers, make themistake of trying to cram as much information as possible into their resume. Multiplepages and high word counts do not translate into an increased opportunity thatyou will be hired. Remember: it’s not the length of your resume that counts –it’s the way that you use your space.
4.Space for Improvement
The opposite problem of verbosity that many encounter isthe problem of leaving too much open space. Large, fancy headers (the top ofthe page) and side margins filled with unused space are unnecessary at best. Tip:your top, bottom and side margins can be as small as 0.2 inches.
5.You’re Good, So What?
You’ve made it clear to your employer that you are one ofthe best shoe salesmen in the world, but how will you help him market hismedical equipment? You must build yourself up, so the most important part ofyour resume will be how you can use your talents and experience to benefit theemployer’s company.
While flowery adjectives are a nice way to spruce up yournarrative, serious resumes will make frequent use of numbers to drive thecandidate’s effectiveness home. As a general rule, bring as many numbers intoyour resume as possible.
7.The Book Will Be Judged By ItsLook視覺規(guī)律
When reading documents, human beings naturally turn thebulk of their focus onto the upper and left regions of the given document. Usethis tendency of human nature to your advantage by placing your most impressiveinformation in those regions.
Your life probably has a theme, and your accomplishmentsare likely centered around this / these theme(s). The ultimate compliment aresume can receive from the reader: after I read your resume, I felt like Iknow who you are, who you want to be, and how joining us can help you getthere.
