The Interview Thatll Bag A Job介紹

In recent weeks, recruiters for Consolidated Container Co. have seen job candidates arrive up to an hour early for interviews. Other candidates have alluded to financial hardships while in the hot seat, and one person even distributed bound copies of documents describing projects he completed for past employers.

These sorts of tactics arent exactly winners.

In todays ultracompetitive job market, even getting an interview is a feat. Yet recruiters and hiring managers say many unemployed candidates blow the opportunity by appearing desperate or bitter about their situations -- often without realizing it.

People are becoming a lot more aggressive, says Julie Loubaton, director of recruiting and talent management for Atlanta-based Consolidated Container. They often wind up hurting themselves.

At an interview, you want to stand out for the right reasons. To do so, youll need to leave your baggage and anxiety at the door. For starters, wait until 10 minutes before your scheduled interview time to announce yourself. Arriving any sooner shows that youre not respectful of the time the hiring manager put aside for you, says Ms. Loubaton, adding that a candidate who arrived an hour early made workers uncomfortable. Companies really dont want someone camped out in their lobby.

Signal confidence by offering a firm handshake, adds Wendy Alfus Rothman, president of Wenroth Consulting Inc., an executive coaching firm in New York. Focus your attention on the interviewer. Avoid looking around the room, tapping your fingers, or other nervous movements.

No matter how youre feeling, keep your personal woes out of the interview process, asserts Ms. Alfus Rothman. Instead, always exude an upbeat attitude. For example, if you were laid off, instead of lamenting the situation, you might say the experience prompted you to reassess your skills, and thats what led you here. You want to demonstrate resilience in the face of unpredictable obstacles, she says.

Meanwhile, show youve done your homework on the company by explaining how your background and track record relates to its current needs, adds Deborah Markus, founder of Columbus Advisors LLC, an executive-search firm in New York. This is particularly important if the firm is in a different industry than the one you worked in before. To stand out, youll need to look up more than just basics on company leadership and core businesses. Youll also need to find out -- and understand -- how recent changes in the marketplace have affected the firm, its competitors and industry overall. Read recent company press releases, annual reports, media coverage and industry blogs, and consult with trusted members of your network. Companies that may have been performing well just a few months ago might be in survival mode now, says Ms. Markus. You want to understand how [theyre] positioned today.

Also, be sure to show youre a strong fit for the particular position youre seeking, adds Kathy Marsico, senior vice president of human resources at PDI Inc., a Saddle River, N.J., provider of sales and marketing services for pharmaceutical companies. Offer examples of past accomplishments -- not just responsibilities youve held -- and describe how theyre relevant to the opportunity. You must differentiate yourself like never before, she says. You need to customize yourself and make yourself memorable.

Sherry R. Brickman, a partner at executive-search firm Martin Partners LLC, says a candidate recently impressed her with this sort of preparation. He knew the companys product line and what markets it was already in, she says of the man, who was interviewing for an executive post at a midsize industrial manufacturer. He clearly and effectively explained how he could cut costs, increase sales and expand market share based on what hed done in his current job. The candidate was hired.

Be careful not to go too far, though, in your quest to stand out. For example, it may be tempting to offer to work temporarily for free or to take a lesser salary than what a job pays. But experts say such bold moves often backfire on candidates. Employers want value, says Lee Miller, author of Get More Money on Your Next Job . . . In Any Economy. They dont want cheap.

Your best bet is to wait until youre extended a job offer before talking pay. In a recession, employers are going to be very price sensitive, says Mr. Miller. The salary you ask for may impact their decision to move forward. Come prepared having researched the average pay range for a position in case youre pressured to name your price, he adds. You might say, for example, that money isnt a primary concern for you and that youre just looking for something fair, suggests Mr. Miller. You can try turning the tables by asking interviewers what the company has budgeted for the position.

In some cases, you may be looking just for a job to get you through so you might consider a less-than-perfect fit. But if you arent really excited about an opportunity, keep it to yourself, warns David Gaspin, director of human resources at 5W Public Relations in New York. Ive had times where people come in and its clear that if they really had their preference, theyd be doing something different, he says. You dont want to put that out on the table. Nobody wants to hire someone whos going to run for the door when times get better.

After an interview, take caution with your follow-up. If youre in the running for multiple jobs at once, make sure to address thank-yous to the right people, career experts advise. Also look closely for spelling and grammatical errors. In a competitive job market, employers have the luxury of choice, and even a minor faux pas can hurt your chances.

If all has gone well, dont stalk the interviewer. Wait at least a week before checking on your candidacy, adds Jose Tamez, managing partner at Austin-Michael LP, an executive-search firm in Golden, Colo. Call recruiters only at their office, even if their business card lists a home or cell number. Leave a message if you get voicemail. These days, recruiters typically have caller ID and can tell if youve tried reaching them multiple times without leaving a voicemail. Theres a fine line between enthusiasm and overenthusiasm, he says.

  面試技巧

  1、 Preparation before English interview:

  1. Prepare all certificate materials, such as qualification certificates related to professional abilities or training materials, preferably directly related to the position being applied for. This not only proves ones efforts in this area, but also indicates ones potential.

During the interview, the content of self introduction should emphasize the motivation for applying and the position you want to apply for. Therefore, collecting relevant information about the position is essential for a confident and relevant self introduction.

  3. It is necessary to have a prior understanding of the location, scale, and global activities of the target company, including the time when the parent company established branches in China, performance, business scale, and future business plans. It would be better if the company could receive industry evaluations. If written information cannot be obtained, efforts should also be made to obtain intelligence from the company or other peers.

2、 Three aspects of performance during English interviews (sincerity, ability, and performance):

When answering questions, one should have a clear and appropriate tone of voice. The content should be organized and avoid repetition. Introduce work experience in reverse order, starting with the most recent job, emphasizing job experiences that are beneficial for the new job. It is best to explain what position you have held, actual achievements, performance, etc., as well as the impact of your work on the original company. Any content unrelated to this application should be avoided as much as possible. Focus on the following three aspects to showcase your strengths.

  1. Sincerity. After expressing opinions on a certain question, an additional sentence can be added: I? D like to hear your opinion (I really want to hear your opinion.) This sentence shows your respect for the interviewee and can easily make them feel friendly. When the interviewer is testing your sincerity in the job application, they should promptly state: So far as that is considered, you must have understanding my termination (Speaking of which, you must have understood my determination.) Asking some questions related to the job content can demonstrate your interest in this job. For example: What other responsibilities do you think this job will include?

  2. Ability. When you know that the recruiting unit is currently eager to hire people, first explain your expertise to the fullest, and then logically come to the conclusion: I think your unit needs a man like me. Using this sentence structure makes the interviewer think that you are speaking from their perspective, considering their development, and making it easier to accept you. When stating ones qualifications, one can start by saying: I? I am qualified for the job because... Then state the reason. When the interviewer is examining whether you are capable of performing the job, the criteria they are referring to are no longer their own standards, but the reasons you have listed.

  3. Performance. Foreign companies prefer to speak with facts and numbers during interviews. To prove your abilities, you can connect past experiences and explain that you have solved similar problems for your previous company and current employer: I explored BEIJING market and sold 50000 sets in one year (I developed the Beijing market and sold 50000 sets a year.)

3、 When conducting an English interview, adhere to the 3P principle:

When introducing oneself, one should remember the "3P principles": Permanent, Personal, and Positive.

Speaking confidently means actively affirming yourself, allowing the interviewer to fully understand your strengths and potential. Highlighting individuality,It is about showcasing ones unique characteristics and emphasizing ones expertise and abilities. The tone is fair, which means seeking truth from facts, not exaggerating or exaggerating, and not involving anything unrelated to oneself.

Self introduction should be concise and clear, leaving the interviewer with an impression of clear thinking, quick response, and strong logic. Self introduction time should not be too long, and words should not be too much. It is best to control it within five minutes. Dont talk too much about yourself and keep talking endlessly, to avoid being too verbose. In addition, when introducing oneself, one should avoid using too much "I" (myself) and avoid having an "I" at the beginning of each sentence, leaving a self proclaimed and self-centered impression.

Flexible job applicants often start with "you" instead of "me". For example, the interviewer says: Would you please say something about yourself? (Could you please talk about your own situation?) The candidate said, "Do you want me to talk about my personal life or to say something about the job?"? Do you want me to talk about my personal life or issues related to this job? So, your conversation has put the interviewee in it. The effect of this way of talking is self-evident. After all, an interview is a place for interviewees and job applicants to communicate with each other. Job applicants often include the interviewee in their conversation, which naturally plays a role in mutual communication.

In an English interview, of course, there is a high requirement for spoken English, so after submitting our resume, we can start preparing for our interview (which will have more preparation time). We can look for more English interview question banks as references and prepare more sentence structures. After being prepared in this way, it can make our interview more efficient and efficient.
