Alice Walker’s View of Androgyny in The Color Purple
Abstract
Alice Walker (1944-- ) is one of the most influential black female writers in American contemporary literary world. The Color Purple, the embodiment of her view on androgyny, won her the Pulitzer Prizes and National Book Awards. The thesis is made up of three parts. The first part is a theoretical explanation of Walker’s androgynous idea, showing the theoretical basis of androgyny. The second part is the embodiment of Walker’s androgyny in The Color Purple, focusing on two aspects: female black images with masculine characteristics and male black images with feminine characteristics. The last part talks about the happy ending and the ideal situation of two sexes which is androgynous harmony.

摘 要
愛麗絲•沃克（1944- ）是美國當(dāng)代文學(xué)界中最有影響力的黑人女作家之1，她的長(zhǎng)篇小說《紫色》曾獲得普利策獎(jiǎng)和美國國家圖書獎(jiǎng)。本文通過分析這篇小說來闡釋沃克的雙性同體思想。論文分為3個(gè)部分：第1部分首先闡述了雙性同體思想的提出及其理論基礎(chǔ)；第2部分從“女性身上的男性特征”與“男性身上的女性化特征”闡釋“雌雄同體”在《紫色》中的具體體現(xiàn)；第3部分則從小說的大團(tuán)圓結(jié)局分析沃克關(guān)于兩性和諧的理想狀態(tài)和追求。
