An Analysis on Wording Features of Legal English
Abstract
This thesis is concerned with the linguistic features of the language of English used in all kinds of documents or business evidences with legal capacity, and focuses on stylistic analysis of legal English wording according to the theories of modern stylistics. In order to analyze the stylistic features of legal English wording, seventeen examples are given. Following those examples, we touch upon some aspects of textual analysis. In textual analysis, we concentrate on intrinsic properties of wording from the point of grammatical devices, lexical features and precision in legal English wording. These detailed analyses might enable us to draw a conclusion of wording features of legal English: to achieve formality and precision. Legal English presents different features in wording, unlike other styles of English as a means of communication. The present thesis focuses on a study of wording characteristics of legal English. This thesis consists of five parts: introduction, definition and functions of legal English, stylistic features of legal English, an analysis of wording features in legal English, and conclusion.

摘 要
這篇論文旨在分析法律文本的語(yǔ)言表現(xiàn)特點(diǎn)，根據(jù)現(xiàn)代語(yǔ)體學(xué)理論，重點(diǎn)談?wù)劮捎⒄Z(yǔ)用詞的文體特征。為了對(duì)法律英語(yǔ)用詞的文體特征進(jìn)行分析，我們選擇了17個(gè)例子來(lái)分析。跟隨這些例子，我們?cè)谡Z(yǔ)篇層面上進(jìn)行了研究。在語(yǔ)篇分析中，我們重點(diǎn)討論了語(yǔ)法特征、詞匯特征以及對(duì)法律英語(yǔ)用詞的準(zhǔn)確表述的分析。通過(guò)這些論述，得出結(jié)論：法律英語(yǔ)用詞特色是為了達(dá)到法律英語(yǔ)表述的正式和準(zhǔn)確服務(wù)的。法律英語(yǔ)表現(xiàn)出不同于其他英語(yǔ)文體的用詞特征。本論文對(duì)法律英語(yǔ)用詞特征展開(kāi)研究。論文共分5個(gè)部分：法律英語(yǔ)的介紹、法律英語(yǔ)的定義及功能、法律英語(yǔ)的文體特征、用詞的特征分析以及結(jié)論。
