Application of Communicative Teaching Approach in Teaching Spoken English
Abstract
The traditional teaching theory is mainly teacher-centered, paying no attention to the students’ communicative competence, neglecting the students’ language creativity. This kind of teaching method isn’t adapt to the wider and wider scope of foreign exchange that China is expanding, and can’t meet our country’s needs for the high quality talent. Under the circumstances, it is essential for us to adopt the communicative teaching approach in order to develop the student’s ability to comprehend language and improve their communicative ability. This thesis is going to put forward a teaching model: creating a context for students to speak English in the classroom. Its purpose is to stimulate students’ motivation and develop their communicative ability and accordingly to improve the quality of oral English teaching in middle school. There are four parts in this thesis. The first part introduces the emergence of the communicative teaching approach and compares with the traditional teaching method. Part two describes the current situation of oral English teaching in middle school. What’s more, this thesis explores solution to these problems and applicate the communicative teaching approach. Part three gives us some examples and a teaching design according to communicative teaching approach. At last, the author makes a brief conclusion of this thesis.

摘 要
到目前為至我們的外語教育特別是基礎(chǔ)外語教育依然沿襲著傳統(tǒng)的外語教學(xué)理論和模式,外語教學(xué)仍停留在應(yīng)試教育模式上,隨著社會(huì)的發(fā)展,其弊端日益顯露出來。傳統(tǒng)的`教學(xué)理論在教學(xué)上表現(xiàn)為教師講為主,注重知識(shí)的灌輸,忽視學(xué)生是主體,忽略了學(xué)生的語言創(chuàng)造力。這種培養(yǎng)方式越來越不適應(yīng)中國日益擴(kuò)大的對外交流,不能滿足我國對高素質(zhì)人才的需求。這時(shí)采用以培養(yǎng)學(xué)習(xí)者的語言理解力、表達(dá)能力和相互溝通思想的能力為目標(biāo)的交際教學(xué)法就顯得至關(guān)重要。交際教學(xué)法作為流行于世界的外語教學(xué)理論,在于它揭示了語言的社會(huì)功能和外語教學(xué)的本質(zhì)和目標(biāo),在于它始終把交際能力的培養(yǎng)作為外語教學(xué)的核心。所以,大力推行交際教學(xué)法,正是新的國情的需要。本文分為4個(gè)部分:首先介紹了交際教學(xué)法,接著分析了英語教學(xué)的現(xiàn)狀,論證了交際教學(xué)法在英語教學(xué)課堂中實(shí)施的重要性,并以口語教學(xué)為例,根據(jù)交際教學(xué)法的特點(diǎn)、目的和實(shí)施原則,探討如何在課堂中實(shí)施交際教學(xué)法。
