鏡中的中國婦女—論林語堂《京華煙云》

Chinese Women Reflected in the Mirror : A Case Study of Lin Yutang’s Moment in Peking
Abstract
Influenced by the western culture, Lin Yutang advocated sexual equality and supported women to be autocephalous and independent. In Lin Yutang’s novels, he always took women as protagonists. Moment in Peking was famous for its women characters especially. Lin portrayed the women characters which all had different dispositions and experiences in this book. Beautiful and intelligent Mulan, gentle and kind-hearted Mannia were the representations of Chinese women in that era. Through the analysis on the personalities of those female figures and the changes of their destinies, the author finds the intended signification of those figures. Because Moment in Peking was written in English and published in the United States, it introduced the Chinese culture to the western readers. Actually, the experiences of the figures of this book symbolized the developments and the changes of Chinese history. Depending on this hint, the author studies how cultural factors and national spirits the women characters express. This thesis will be based on the study of those women; and they will be the main topic from the beginning to the end, just like Moment in Peking.

摘 要
作為最受西方影響的現(xiàn)代知識分子之1，林語堂極力主張男女平等、女性獨立自主的觀念。他的作品多以女性為主角，《京華煙云》也是以其成功塑造的女性角色而聞名。關(guān)于《京華煙云》的研究，中外學者多是從分析書中的女性形象入手。在這部作品中，林語堂賦予了這些女性人物各自鮮明的性格特征和不同的生活經(jīng)歷。美麗、聰慧的木蘭，溫婉、善良的曼娘，都是當時中國女性的典型代表。本文從分析書中幾個女性人物的性格、命運的轉(zhuǎn)變?nèi)胧郑芯康贸銎湫蜗蟮纳顚犹N意。同時，因為《京華煙云》用英文創(chuàng)作，在美國出版，其在對中國文化的傳播上起到了很重要的作用。本文分析得出，書中人物1生的經(jīng)歷和成長，象征著中華民族歷史的變化和發(fā)展。圍繞這1發(fā)現(xiàn)，本文研究這些形象向西方讀者傳播的中國文化，以及展示的民族精神。本文與《京華煙云》1樣，以女性為線索展開討論，也始終以女性研究為主題。
